Jeddah, The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has welcomed the recent decision by Spain, Norway, and Ireland to recognize the State of Palestine.

In a statement released today, the organization hailed this momentous and historic step as consistent with the principles of international law and the pertinent resolutions of the United Nations while also fortifying the State of Palestine’s standing on the global stage.

The OIC expressed appreciation for these types of stances that support international efforts aimed at ending Israeli colonial occupation of Palestinian land since 1967, including Jerusalem, and the push in the right direction to achieve justice and freedom for the Palestinian people.

Reiterating its call, the OIC urged all nations that have yet to declare their recognition of the State of Palestine to lend their support to its pursuit of full membership in the United Nations. The OIC emphasized that such actions are essential components of international efforts to foster peace and stab
ility in the region, in line with the two-state solution, as outlined in relevant resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.
