Arar, The caper bush, or Flinders rose (Capparis spinosa), is flourishing in Saudi Arabia’s Northern Borders.

This prized perennial shrub boasts beautiful white flowers, evergreen foliage, and edible fruits.

Thriving in the desert climate, the caper bush is well-adapted to high temperatures and requires minimal water. Its intricate root system helps stabilize the soil, preventing erosion and desertification.

The nectar-rich flowers attract a variety of pollinators, like bees, further enriching the desert ecosystem.

The economic potential of the caper bush is also attracting attention. With over 140 known varieties, the plant produces edible pear-shaped fruits used in various culinary dishes.
