Makkah: The International Forum ‘Media and Palestinian Rights, focusing on practical steps to build on initiatives to recognize Palestine’ in partnership between the Assistant Secretariat for Corporate Communication of the Muslim World League (MWL) and the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA), concluded.

The forum held yesterday issued several recommendations, including 11 executive initiatives that enhance Islamic and international media support to defend the rights of the Palestinian people, including the launch of an interactive media platform specialized in monitoring and documenting the international and popular movement regarding commitment to international resolutions on the Palestinian issue, and publishing documented periodic reports on this.

The initiatives also encourage increasing media publications on initiatives and announcements issued by world countries on the recognition of the State of Palestine, showcasing these announcements in a positive approach, and
launching an electronic blog for media terminology about the Palestinian issue and the Palestinian people which identifies misleading terms commonly used in media narratives and the corresponding precise terminology based on international references, in addition to the announcement of the ‘Journalists for Peace’ initiative, which includes international specialists and activists who are able to build a comprehensive media strategy that promote peace and a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.

The recommendations included strengthening cooperation and coordination between the media arms of international organizations concerned with the Palestinian issue, such as the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the MWL, in media awareness about the Palestinian issue.
