Seha Virtual Hospital Saves Jordanian Pilgrim from Stroke

Makkah: The Ministry of Health has announced that a medical team specializing in telestroke medicine which is affiliated with the Seha Virtual Hospital in Riyadh, has succeeded in saving the life of a 72-year-old Jordanian pilgrim after he suffered from symptoms of a stroke.

According to the Ministry of Health, the Jordanian pilgrim came to the emergency department at the Madinah General Hospital. The patient had a medical history of some chronic diseases, such as diabetes and high blood pressure. The emergency team took the necessary measures. The emergency medical code for strokes was immediately activated in coordination with the Seha Virtual Hospital to handle the case remotely.

In a joint effort, the Ministry of Health, the Seha Virtual Hospital and the Madinah General Hospital worked together to diagnose the case as a stroke confirmed by a consultant specialized in stroke medicine at the Seha Virtual Hospital, where signs of a clot in the right artery of the brain were discovered or located.

The Mini
stry of Health said that the medical team provided the necessary treatment for the patient, including giving a clot-dissolving drug. They also directed that a cerebral catheterization be performed in cooperation with the interventional radiology team. This procedure removed the clot and widened the artery, leading to a noticeable improvement in the patient’s health condition.
