Al-Faqra: Hub for Citizens, Visitors of Madinah Region

With its cool weather in the summer, Al-Faqra Center attracts the citizens and visitors of the Madinah Region, making it a popular destination.

The center is named “Al-Faqra” because it closely resembles the vertebrae of the spine. It is a series of adjacent mountains aligned in almost a straight line. It rises about 1,800 meters above sea level and is some 80 kilometers from Madinah. Al-Faqra is known for its cold and moderate climate in the summer and very cold weather in the winter.

Al-Faqra is famous for its high mountains, including the well-known Al-Ashar and Al-Ajrad mountains. Al-Ashar Mountain is named for its abundance of trees, especially juniper and wild olive trees, while Al-Ajrad is named for its lack of vegetation or greenery.

Al-Faqra is characterized by its mild summer weather, with a temperature about 15 degrees Celsius lower than in Madinah. This has made it a popular attraction for Madinah residents, and tourist activity has increased due to the availability of recreational amenities an
d a fully equipped tourist village in the central area.

The area is also known for cultivating palm trees and grains using rainwater. It is renowned for producing high-quality honey and growing olives and some fruits, which have recently gained attention from local farmers due to their successful cultivation and good yields.
