The Hague: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has called on the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to demand that Israel, as the occupying power, urgently lift its restrictions on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
According to Saudi Press Agency, this appeal was delivered during an ICJ session in The Hague, which focused on the UN General Assembly's request for an advisory opinion on Israel's responsibilities toward the UN and other international organizations operating in the occupied Palestinian territories.
OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and Jerusalem Affairs Ambassador Samir Diab emphasized the OIC's strong rejection of Israel's recent measures against UN organizations in the occupied Palestinian territories. He specifically condemned the targeting of UNRWA and attempts to curtail or eliminate its role through racist and illegal laws.
Addressing the ICJ, Diab emphasized the need to ensure the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid throughout the Gaza Strip, in accordance with international law, international humanitarian law, and relevant UN resolutions.
He further stressed the necessity of compelling Israel to implement a permanent and comprehensive cessation of its aggression, facilitate the return of displaced persons, withdraw its occupying forces, and open all crossings.
