Riyadh: The National Pavilion of Saudi Arabia will open its participation in the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale tomorrow with "The Um Slaim School: An Architecture of Connection," an exhibition that explores and documents Najdi architecture in Riyadh. The exhibition aims to showcase architecture as a medium for collective knowledge and emerging spatial practices.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the exhibition features an interactive archive comprising materials, photographs, models, films, and audio from the Um Slaim Collective. The design of the pavilion includes a central map table of Riyadh and a scaffolding structure adorned with textiles and visuals, providing a comprehensive view of Najdi architecture.
Dr. Sumayah Al-Solaiman, CEO of the Architecture and Design Commission, emphasized the Kingdom's commitment to global cultural dialogue and architectural education. This initiative aligns with Vision 2030's support for the next generation of architects, highlighting Saudi Arabia's dedication to fostering architectural innovation and education on an international stage.
