National Center for Meteorology Unveils Saudi Summer 2025 Climate Outlook

Riyadh: The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has released its seasonal report for the Summer 2025 forecast, covering June, July, and August, based on climatic conditions from 1991 to 2020. The report details temperature and rainfall predictions across the Kingdom.

According to Saudi Press Agency, forecasts indicate a temperature increase of 1°C above normal in parts of Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, Eastern, and Northern Borders regions, peaking in August at 1.2°C in Al-Jouf, Tabuk, Qassim, Hail, and Eastern regions. Other areas will see increases of less than 1°C.

Rainfall predictions suggest higher-than-normal amounts in Najran, Jazan, Al-Baha, and Aseer, as well as parts of Makkah, Madinah, and southern Riyadh and Eastern regions, particularly in July and August. The remaining regions are expected to receive normal rainfall.

The NCM's analysis of climatic records noted the highest maximum temperature recorded in Jeddah, June 2010, at 52°C, with Al-Ahsa reaching 51.3°C in July 2024. Dammam and Al-Qaisumah recorded August highs of 51°C in 1998 and 2021, respectively.

For rainfall, Sharurah had the highest daily amount in June 1996 at 53.8 mm, Jazan recorded 67.6 mm in July 1995, and Jazan again saw 113 mm in August 2024.
