GCC Secretary-General: GCC’s 45-Year Journey Reflects Great Legacy, Enduring Achievements

Riyadh: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi affirmed that since its establishment on May 25, 1981, the GCC has represented a pioneering model and a towering institution that embodies the depth of brotherly bonds and unity of destiny. With the support and directives of its leaders, the GCC has achieved major strategic accomplishments across various political, economic, security, and military fields, and strengthened its regional and international standing as a trusted partner in international partnerships, consolidating security and stability, and supporting sustainable development. According to Saudi Press Agency, in a speech on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the GCC, Albudaiwi said: "We stand with pride and honor before a blessed journey rich in giving and achievements, recalling the wise vision and sound approach laid down by the founding leaders of the GCC 45 years ago, as they made this blessed entity a pioneering model and a beacon of uni ty, integration, and solidarity among its states and peoples." He added: "Despite the unprecedented events and developments facing our region, which have had serious repercussions on the entire world, we affirm with full confidence that the GCC journey, with its great legacy and firmly established achievements, will continue to advance toward broader horizons of integration and prosperity, based on the directives of the leaders, the unity of the GCC ranks, firmness of will, and the aspirations of the peoples of the Gulf toward a brighter, safer, and more stable future." Albudaiwi pointed to the firmly established achievements witnessed throughout the blessed journey of the GCC, and the security, stability, development, and prosperity enjoyed by Gulf states, which embody the depth of brotherly bonds and unity of destiny that unite the peoples of the GCC states. This doubles responsibilities toward preserving these gains and building upon them. From this standpoint, duty requires continuing to strengthen Gulf unity and enhance integration and solidarity, in order to confront various challenges and developments, keep pace with future aspirations, and preserve the valuable Gulf achievements.
