AlUla:Farmers in the AlUla region are leveraging the AlUla Dates Season to market their produce, building on the area's rich tradition of date palm cultivation. This initiative is helping Saudi dates reach a broader global market.
According to Saudi Press Agency, AlUla is a key region in Saudi Arabia for date palm cultivation, with over 4.2 million palms spread across 16,484 hectares. Annually, the region produces approximately 130,000 tons of dates, as reported by the Royal Commission for AlUla's Agriculture Center.
The AlUla Dates Auction has become a significant event, drawing traders and buyers from around the world. It serves as a direct connection for local farmers to showcase their harvest and access both local and international markets.
Saudi Arabia has maintained its position as the global leader in the value of date exports for the fourth year in a row, as per data from the International Trade Centre. In 2025, the Kingdom's date exports reached SAR1.938 billion, with sales in over 125 countries. The national production surpassed 1.9 million tons, supported by more than 37 million palms throughout the country, with AlUla being a major contributor.
The AlUla Dates Season underscores the longstanding bond between the local community and date palms, enhancing opportunities for farmers to distribute their produce within the Kingdom and internationally.
