Jazan Chamber Highlights Investment Opportunities in Logistics Sector

Jazan:A report from the Jazan Chamber has identified significant investment opportunities within the region's logistics sector. This potential is attributed to the integration of ports, industrial zones, and transport networks with agricultural and fishery production. Such integration aims to expand storage, refrigeration, manufacturing, and distribution activities, thereby enhancing local products' access to national, regional, and international markets.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the report analyzed the logistics sector's current state, competitive advantages, and demand trends. It also explored opportunities for developing value chains in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program. Jazan's strategic location on the Red Sea coast, along with its proximity to shipping routes and African markets, was noted as a significant strength. The diversity of its economic base, which includes industry, agriculture, and fisheries, supports the sector's growth and opens avenues for specialized services that connect production sites with marketing and export outlets.

In agriculture, the report highlighted that Jazan's mango production exceeds 65,000 tonnes annually from over one million trees, covering more than 60 varieties. This abundance presents investment opportunities in sorting, packaging, and cold-storage centers, as well as juice, drying, and canning industries. These developments could extend the marketing period for products, reduce waste, and enhance farmers' returns.

In the fisheries sector, opportunities exist to develop an integrated system linking harbors and markets with refrigeration, freezing, packaging, and processing facilities. This would preserve the quality of marine products, increase their added value, and prepare them for wider market access. The growth of e-commerce further opens additional avenues for developing logistics services in Jazan. This includes establishing centers for collecting, sorting, and preparing orders, managing inventory and returns, and delivering to consumers, thus aiding small and medium-sized enterprises in expanding their operations across Saudi Arabia.

The report concluded that strengthening the integration between infrastructure and productive sectors in Jazan, along with expanding manufacturing and supporting services, represents a pathway to enhancing local product competitiveness, diversifying investment opportunities, and boosting the region's contribution to Saudi Arabia's goal of becoming a global logistics hub.
