Commerce Ministry Warns Against Misuse of Business Bank Accounts

Riyadh:The Ministry of Commerce has issued a stern warning to business owners regarding unlawful activities conducted through their establishments' bank accounts. The ministry emphasized the necessity of monitoring all financial transactions and transfers, urging owners to prevent misuse that violates regulations.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministry highlighted that a business's bank account should solely be used for commercial purposes. Business owners are required to maintain full awareness of all contracts, agreements, transactions, and financial transfers related to their establishments. Continuous monitoring is essential to avoid accountability for any violations or crimes linked to their accounts.

The ministry detailed several irregular transaction practices that could lead to legal issues. These include receiving cash deposits or transfers from unknown sources, sending funds to parties without a contractual relationship, and conducting banking operations without the owner's knowledge. Opening multiple accounts without a legitimate business reason or clear linkage is also considered risky, as it may be exploited to divert funds.

Additionally, the ministry warned against financial transactions such as deposits, transfers, withdrawals, and purchases involving entities unrelated to the business's commercial activities. Such actions could lead to severe consequences for business owners found accountable for misuse.
