Saudi Geological Survey Launches Initiative of National Geological Database

Jeddah, Saudi Geological Survey (SGS), under the patronage of Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Al-Khorayef, today launched the National Geological Database Initiative that is envisioned to contribute to realizing Saudi Vision 2030 in the mining sector.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Mining Affairs Khalid bin Saleh Al-Mudaifer and SGS CEO Abdullah bin Mofter Al-Shamrani attended the launching ceremony held at the Hilton Jeddah.

Owner of the initiative Eng. Mustafa bin Abdulqader Makki presented a briefing on the initiative that is considered the cornerstone of comprehensive strategic initiatives for mining in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through collecting information related to SGS and the mining sector.

He added that National Geological Database Initiative is concerned with offering geological regional information and making available for investors through the Internet via reviewing data and benefiting from them in the fields of studies and research, in addition to providing detailed information and data on geological maps with various drawing standards, and detailed geophysical surveys on mining areas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Makki noted that this initiative would also contribute to knowing the detailed information about regional geochemical surveys for surface samples, digging samples and wells.
