General

The head of Al-Fatah Parliamentary bloc revealed the most important paragraphs that are currently under discussion in the draft federal budget law 2023, expressing his position on the options to return them to the government or not.

The head of the bloc, MP Abbas Al-Zamili, said, in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA), that “the general budget arrived at the House of Representatives a few days ago, and the First Deputy Speaker directed to be discussed in the Parliamentary Finance Committee.”

He added, “The Finance Committee will study the budget carefully,” indicating that “two main paragraphs are currently under discussion, which are the financial deficit, which amounts to 64 trillion dinars, which is equivalent to more than 33% of the size of the budget, which is contrary to the financial management law, as well as the topic of the three years and an indication of the extent of its legality and the possibility of its application in the budget, and is it in line with oil prices in the global market, the currency exchange rate and the economic situation in Iraq

On the options for returning the budget to the government, Al-Zamili said, “We do not want to deliver messages that the House of Representatives stands against the budget sent by the government, and therefore we have discussions with the Prime Minister through the leaders of the coordination framework forces and the heads of the blocs to reach final results regarding the possibility of accepting it in the current form or returning it to the government and addressing the issues of disability and the three years.”
