Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi has praised Qatar’s diplomatic efforts and the significant role it played in Israeli and Palestinian sides reaching a ceasefire agreement. He said that Qatari diplomacy has dealt with many international and regional issues, seeking to resolve them through peaceful means.

Albudaiwi also commended Egypt’s efforts and endeavour to communicate with the concerned parties, contributing to the two sides reaching a truce.

Furthermore, he reiterated the GCC countries’ position, which stresses the need to speed up reaching a just, comprehensive and lasting solution to the conflict, based on the principles of international law and the Arab Peace Initiative, that gives the Palestinian people the legitimate right to establish an independent state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
