Ambassador meets Canadian officials

Washington-resident Bahraini Ambassador to Canada, Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa, met here today Sandra McCardell, Assistant Deputy Minister, Europe, Arctic, Middle East and Maghreb, and Neil Brennan, the Director of Gulf State Relations at the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development, within the framework of his official visit to Canada.

The meeting focused on ways to enhance the Bahraini-Canadian cooperation.

The Canadian side affirmed their country’s desire to make bilateral ties multi-faceted to achieve common interests.

The envoy stressed Bahrain’s keenness to strengthen its relations with Canada, noting that the launch of the Canadian-Bahraini Friendship Group will contribute to broadening joint cooperation.

He also highlighted the openness of the kingdom’s economic environment, based on the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The two sides also discussed regional and global issues, within the two countries’ keenness to back international ant-terror efforts this year.

The Ambassador said that the kingdom is looking forward to hosting the third round of political consultations.

The two Canadian officials congratulated the envoy on the launch of the Canadian-Bahraini Friendship Group, praising the ongoing joint cooperation.

They also hailed kingdom’s role in consolidating the values and principles of peaceful coexistence and peace in the region.
