GDNC Thwarts Attempt to Smuggle more than 6 Million Amphetamine Pills

General Directorate for Narcotics Control Spokesman Major Marwan Al-Hazmi said that GDNC patrols have thwarted an attempt to smuggle 6,072,291 amphetamine pills hidden in a shipment of sweets, citruses and nuts. The operation was carried out in cooperation with Omani police, and in coordination with the Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority.

Al-Hazmi said that the smugglers, a Saudi national and a Syrian on a visit visa, have been arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution.

Security agencies are urging the public to report any information concerning drug smuggling or selling by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, the Eastern region, and 999 in the rest of the Kingdom’s regions.
