The meeting of the permanent national committee for regulating weapons and limiting them to the hands of the state, headed by Al-Araji

The Permanent National Committee for Regulating Weapons and Restricting Weapons in the Hands of the State held a meeting chaired by National Security Adviser Qassem Al-Araji.

The National Security Adviser stated in a statement: “Based on the directive of the Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani, the National Security Adviser, Qassem Al-Araji, chaired today, Monday, an expanded meeting of the Permanent National Committee for Regulating Arms and Restricting Weapons to the State.”

The meeting discussed mechanisms for activating the functions of the committee and supporting the Ministry of the Interior to implement the objectives of the national policy to regulate weapons and limit them to the hands of the state, and the implementation plan related to this regard.

The meeting also reviewed the measures taken to limit weapons to the state, in addition to outlining the requirements for the success of this mission.

Al-Araji stressed the importance of the work of the Permanent National Committee to regulate and limit weapons in the hands of the state, pointing to the Prime Minister’s interest in its success, because it represents a basic pillar in the government program, stressing the need for the main and supporting parties to this task to be patient, serious and objective in the procedures for implementing the responsibilities of the executive teams for the intended policy axes, as well as paying attention to organizational aspects and executive procedures, as well as preparing accurate reports on this file to be presented to the Prime Minister.

He also stressed the importance of the role of Iraqi tribal elders and religious and political leaders in supporting the implementation of this policy, which contributes directly to enhancing security and stability in the country.

During the meeting, the committee decided to direct the cooperation of all parties to develop the quarterly report of the committee’s work, in preparation for presenting it to the Prime Minister.
