Bahrain to host Gulf Disability Society’s 21st annual scientific forum

The Kingdom of Bahrain is set to host the 21st annual scientific forum for people with disabilities, to be organised by the Gulf Disability Society, in cooperation with the Arabian Gulf University on October 17-18.

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President, will patronise the two-day event, themed “Integrating Persons with Disabilities in University Education- Opportunities and Challenges”.

The forum will attract governmental and private educational institutions, persons with disabilities and their families, academics, providers of rehabilitation and educational services, in addition to relevant technical institutions and the media.

The forum will feature plenary sessions, workshops and working papers presented by experts and academics from various Arab countries, in addition to training workshops to develop university educational programmes and services for people with disabilities, in order to provide them with educational and career empowerment.

The experiences of GCC and Arab universities and countries in integrating people with disabilities will also be reviewed during the event.

Shaikh Duaij bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Honorary President of the Gulf Disability Society, expressed thanks and appreciation to HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad for patronising the event, noting that His Highness had patronised the 19th edition, themed “Disabilities Sports: Challenge and Ambition”, which ensured its success.
