Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed that the government’s position towards the events in occupied Palestine is a confirmation of Iraq’s firm position towards the Palestinian issue and the struggle of the Palestinian people.

Al-Sudani said during the Cabinet session, “This operation, ‘Al-Aqsa Flood,’ is a natural result of the great injustice that has been inflicted on the Palestinians over the past period and the continuation of violations and transgressions against Al-Aqsa Mosque and the crimes committed against the Palestinians.”

He continued: “Unfortunately, these violations were preceded by the silence and ignoring of the international community and repudiation of its decisions, indicating that the Palestinian people have lost confidence in society and its covenants.”

He stressed, “The Iraqi government has expressed its position and the political forces have expressed their statements. Our efforts are continuing and communicating with the Palestinian people, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Arab and Islamic countries. There may be a summit held by the Arab League or Islamic cooperation countries to stop this escalation for fear of sliding down a deep slope that will leave dangerous, tragic conditions.”
