Al-Baha’s Beekeeping Industry Thrives

Al-Baha Region has a long and rich history of beekeeping, made possible by its diverse vegetation and favorable climate.

This thriving industry has seen a surge in popularity among young people, many of whom have transformed their passion into profitable businesses.

The region produces approximately 20% of Saudi Arabia’s honey, boasting over 15 unique varieties renowned for their exceptional quality. With around 3,000 beekeepers, including both seasoned professionals and aspiring enthusiasts, Al-Baha is a beekeeping powerhouse.

To support this growing sector, the Beekeepers Cooperative Association has established a comprehensive ecosystem, including training institutes, research facilities, and a honey market. A key focus is on preserving the native bee breed to ensure the industry’s sustainability.

As beekeeping continues to flourish, Al-Baha is solidifying its position as a leading honey producer in the Kingdom and beyond.
