Al-kharj: The Al-Kharj Farmers and Seasonal Products Festival is witnessing notable visitor turnout and active commercial activity, with 253 participating farms recording date sales of 78 tons so far, valued at SAR498,000.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the festival offers 18 varieties of the finest dates produced in Al-Kharj Governorate, reflecting its rich diversity of palm varieties. A daily date auction is held after Isha prayer throughout the event, drawing farmers, enthusiasts, and investors in the date sector. The festival also features dedicated sections for vegetables and fruits, an area for families working in the cottage industry showcasing local products, and a games and entertainment zone for families and children.
Since its launch, the festival has attracted more than 18,000 visitors over its first five days, while 600 volunteers have contributed to its success by providing services across various festival facilities and sections.
The event runs for two months, reaffirming its position as one of the governorate's leading agricultural and economic gatherings. Estimates indicate that total quantities are expected to range between 840 and 950 tons by the end of the season, while total sales are projected to reach between SAR5.3 million and SAR6.2 million. The number of visitors is also expected to exceed 300,000 by the end of the festival.
