Riyadh: The first edition of the Arab European Cities Dialogue concluded yesterday in Riyadh after three days of deliberations held under the theme "City Partnerships for a Better Future."
According to Saudi Press Agency, the event was organized by the Riyadh Municipality in cooperation with the Arab Urban Development Institute, PLATFORMA-an initiative of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions-and the International Cooperation Agency of the Association of Netherlands Municipalities.
The forum's conclusion marked the culmination of an agenda of scientific sessions, workshops, and roundtable discussions that addressed key challenges and opportunities in the path toward sustainable urban development. The forum witnessed high-level participation from mayors and municipal secretaries representing a wide range of Arab and European cities, along with representatives from international organizations, financial institutions, and municipal unions.
Held for the first time in Riyadh, the forum served as a strategic platform to promote city diplomacy, support urban integration efforts, and innovate sustainable solutions to shared urban challenges, aligning with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and Riyadh's ambition to become a leading sustainable global city.
The forum concluded with a set of actionable recommendations aimed at enhancing inter-city cooperation, developing governance and financing mechanisms, and promoting innovation in municipal services to better prepare cities for a more inclusive and sustainable future.
