Aseer: The "Report on the State of Culture in the Kingdom 2024", issued today by the Ministry of Culture, highlighted the advanced position of Aseer Region in cultural tourism. It ranked second nationwide in domestic tourist trips linked to festivals and cultural events, with more than 1.9 million trips, while Riyadh came first with 3.7 million trips.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the report also noted that Aseer placed third in tourist trips involving visits to historical, heritage, and archaeological sites, recording 920,000 trips, underscoring its strong presence on the national cultural tourism map, alongside Riyadh and Madinah.
The growth of cultural tourism in Aseer reflects the diversity of its offerings and their connection to the region's natural and environmental assets. Events and activities in mountainous cities and governorates such as Abha, Namas, Tanomah, and Rijal Almaa have become major attractions for local tourists, as part of a broader trend of rising demand for cultural and heritage experiences.
The report further stated that these positive indicators are in line with the vision of the Ministry of Culture and the Aseer Region Development Authority to strengthen culture as a driver of economic and tourism growth, supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to establish Aseer as a leading cultural and tourist destination at both the local and international levels.
