Riyadh: Food city in Buraidah, affiliated with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture's Qassim branch, plays a key role in organizing and marketing agricultural products through an integrated operational system that supports food security, enhances supply chain efficiency, and facilitates the smooth distribution of fresh produce to markets across Saudi Arabia. According to Saudi Press Agency, the facility spans 54,000 square meters, including a 14,000-square-meter main building and 40,000 square meters dedicated to auction, loading, and unloading, providing a comprehensive operational environment for the trading and marketing of agricultural products. On average, the city receives around 350 vehicles and trucks daily carrying vegetables and other agricultural products, while approximately 100 trucks depart each day to destinations across Saudi Arabia, highlighting Qassim Region's role in supplying fresh produce to markets nationwide. The city handles dozens of vegetable varieties in addition to a range of seasonal crops that meet market demand throughout the year. Around 170 Saudi citizens work in the city's shops and market stalls, while the auction area includes 12 marketing offices staffed by approximately 60 Saudi marketers, alongside a large number of farmers and owners of specialized agricultural enterprises. This reflects the city's contribution to supporting farmers, empowering national talent, and stimulating economic activity linked to the agricultural sector. Buraidah's food city continues to strengthen Saudi Arabia's agricultural marketing system through an integrated platform that combines marketing, storage, loading, and distribution services, thereby enhancing commercial efficiency and supporting the delivery of agricultural products to markets across the country.
