CABINET APPROVES ARMY COMMAND’S REQUEST TO ENROLL 82 CADET OFFICERS IN MILITARY ACADEMY

The cabinet on Thursday approved a request made by the army command and submitted to the Council of Ministers by the minister of defense to enroll 82 more cadet officers in the military academy.

The cabinet convened at the Grand Serail today under the chairmanship of Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, to discuss the situation of the military academy.

Speaking to reporters following the session, Caretaker Information Minister, Ziad Makary, said that at the beginning of the cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister stressed keenness on the security and military institutions, and on the continuity of their role in protecting the nation and freedoms.

“We will not allow vacuum to creep into institutions, and we will be prepared to shun any danger jeopardizing the state’s institutions,” Mikati underlined.

Pertaining to the Syrian displacement file, Mikati revealed that Caretaker Foreign Minister, Abdallah Bou Habib, will visit Syria soon.
