– Riyadh is currently buzzing with intellectual excitement as it hosts the International Chemistry Olympiad, a prestigious event that brings together 333 students from 90 countries, accompanied by 260 international specialists in the field of chemistry. However, the Olympiad is not just about scientific brilliance but also an enriching journey into the heart of Saudi culture, showcasing a blend of authentic heritage, modern development, and the Kingdom’s brilliant cultural diversity.

The launch ceremony was a grand affair that focused on Saudi heritage’s cultural diversity and richness. The event kicked off with captivating displays of traditional costumes from various regions of the Kingdom, providing participants with a visual and historical context of Saudi multifaceted identity.

Central to the reception was the Saudi coffee experience. Participants were treated to Saudi coffee’s rich aroma and unique flavour, served in traditional dallahs (coffee pots). Hosts elaborated on the different methods of coffe
e preparation, highlighting regional variations and preferences. This coffee ritual, deeply rooted in Saudi culture, symbolized hospitality and a warm welcome to the international delegates.

Complementing the coffee experience were an array of Saudi dates renowned for their quality and variety. Attendees sampled some of the Kingdom’s finest, including Ajwa, Kholas, and Segai dates. The hosts shared insights into the significance of dates in Saudi hospitality, emphasizing their health benefits and high nutritional value.
