Erdogan Discusses With Haniyeh Developments In Gaza

Istanbul Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed with the head of the Hamas Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, the latest developments in the Palestinian Gaza Strip.

The Turkish Presidency's Communications Department stated in a statement last night that Erdogan and Haniyeh's discussions took place during a phone call.

Erdogan stressed during the phone call that Ankara "is striving to ensure the arrival of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, and the possibility of treating the wounded in Turkey when necessary, and that it is making unremitting efforts to ensure a ceasefire in the region as soon as possible."

He stressed that "a permanent solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict cannot be found without establishing an independent State of Palestine on the 1967 borders with al-Quds as its capital."

Erdogan added that Turkey will continue its efforts on the international scene to achieve lasting peace.
