Erdogan heads to Washington tomorrow to attend the NATO summit

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will begin a visit to the US capital, Washington, tomorrow, Tuesday, to attend the summit of heads of state and government of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization / NATO /.

The Communications Department of the Turkish Presidency stated in a statement today that Erdogan’s visit to Washington will begin on July 9 and continue until the 11th of the same month.

According to the Communications Department of the Turkish Presidency, Erdogan will hold bilateral meetings with some of the participating heads of state and government on the sidelines of the summit, which coincides with the 75th anniversary of the founding of NATO.

It explained in its statement that during the summit, views will be exchanged on NATO’s efforts in the field of deterrence and defense in the face of challenges and dangers threatening its geography, as well as the situation in Ukraine and its support.

The NATO leaders summit is also scheduled to discuss steps to combat terrorism, as one of the main
threats to the alliance. The relevant sessions will be attended by the leaders of NATO partners in the Asia-Pacific region, Australia, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, the President of Ukraine, and representatives of the European Union.
