Foreign Minister and Chinese Counterpart Discuss Strengthening Saudi-Chinese Relations

Riyadh: Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah of Saudi Arabia and Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, convened in Riyadh to hold the fifth session of the Political Committee under the Saudi-Chinese Joint High-Level Committee. This meeting, held on Sunday, was part of efforts to enhance the strategic partnership between the two nations. According to Saudi Press Agency, the discussions centered on the comprehensive strategic partnership and praised the level of bilateral relations across various sectors such as economic, trade, investment, and energy. The meeting also marked the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and China, highlighting significant developments and alignment of visions that have benefited both nations. During the session, both ministers explored ways to bolster cooperation across multiple fields. They emphasized the importance of mutual suppo rt concerning vital interests and affirmed their commitment to measures that promote security, stability, development, and prosperity in their respective countries. The Saudi delegation reiterated its commitment to the One-China policy, acknowledging the People's Republic of China as the sole legitimate government of China and affirming Taiwan as an integral part of Chinese territory. In response, the Chinese delegation expressed support for the strengthening of Saudi-Iranian relations and praised Saudi Arabia's efforts in enhancing regional and international security and stability. The Chinese side also commended the economic advancements in Saudi Arabia under the Saudi Vision 2030 initiative and the successful outcomes of the Arab-China Riyadh Summit for Cooperation and Development held in December 2022. Saudi Arabia, in turn, expressed its support for China's hosting of the second China-Arab Summit and the second China-GCC Summit in 2026. Additionally, China expressed its readiness to participate in the World Expo 2030 in Riyadh. Both sides exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, voicing their commitment to enhanced communication and coordination. They reiterated their support for a comprehensive and just solution to the Palestinian issue, advocating for an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the two-state solution and international resolutions. The visit also saw the signing of an agreement for the mutual waiver of visas for holders of diplomatic, private, and service passports, further cementing the diplomatic ties between the two countries.
