Foreign Minister Co-Chairs Saudi-Omani Coordination Council Meeting with Omani Counterpart

Muscat: Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi. The two officials convened to discuss the ongoing fraternal relations between Saudi Arabia and Oman, focusing on ways to enhance and further develop these ties across various sectors. Regional and international developments were also on the agenda, along with efforts to address these issues.

According to Saudi Press Agency, following their meeting, Prince Faisal and Minister Al Busaidi co-chaired the third meeting of the Saudi-Omani Coordination Council in Muscat. The event included the participation of heads of the Council's subsidiary committees and the General Secretariat teams from both countries. This meeting underscored the commitment of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of Oman, to strengthen bilateral ties for mutual prosperity.

In his remarks, Prince Faisal emphasized that the meeting builds on the outcomes of the second Saudi-Omani Coordination Council meeting held in AlUla in December 2024. He highlighted the importance of the Council's subsidiary committees in implementing remaining initiatives and the role of the General Secretariat in overcoming any challenges. Prince Faisal also stressed the development of trade relations, investment stimulation, and cooperation between public and private sectors. He noted the signing of mutual recognition of rules of origin and the launch of the second phase of industrial integration initiatives, reflecting the strong economic ties between the two nations.

The Foreign Minister praised the progress in establishing the Coordination Council's electronic platform, aimed at connecting committee work and initiatives for better follow-up. He welcomed advancements in economy, trade, industry, energy, and investment, and highlighted efforts to expand cooperation in sectors that benefit both countries.

Omani Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi acknowledged the significant progress in bilateral relations, highlighting developments in economic integration, intra-trade, and joint investments. He also noted collaboration in security, judicial, cultural, and tourism sectors, emphasizing the political cooperation and coordination on regional and international matters. The Omani minister expressed hope for continued integration across fields, aligning with the aspirations of both leaderships and peoples.

The meeting concluded with the signing of the minutes of the third Saudi-Omani Coordination Council meeting. Attendees included various officials such as Assistant Minister of Interior Dr. Hisham Al-Falih, Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Ambassador Dr. Saud Al-Sati, and Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Oman Ibrahim bin Bishan, among others.
