GCC Secretary-General Welcomes Agreement for the Exchange of Prisoners in Yemen

Muscat: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi welcomed the agreement concerning the exchange of prisoners in Yemen, which was signed today in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Albudaiwi commended the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations to Yemen, and the International Committee of the Red Cross in reaching this agreement.

He expressed his hope that this agreement will contribute to strengthening the path to peace and stability in the Republic of Yemen, alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people, building trust between the parties, and ultimately leading to a comprehensive and sustainable political solution that guarantees Yemen's security, stability, and unity, and serves the aspirations of its people for peace and development.
