Riyadh: A panel discussion titled "Preparing for Quantum Technologies: Lessons from AI Policy Development" was held yesterday as part of the exhibition accompanying the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR25), organized by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) in Riyadh. The discussion emphasized the importance of understanding quantum technologies and their implications for future policymaking. It also highlighted lessons learned from artificial intelligence development and explored how these insights could guide the formulation of strategies to enhance readiness for the quantum computing era.
According to Saudi Press Agency, speakers explained that preparing for emerging technologies requires raising awareness and developing policies for both AI and quantum computing. They noted that quantum computing poses significant challenges due to its speed and complexity, complicating legislative efforts because lawmakers typically focus on the technologies' impacts, operational mechanisms, and financial implications.
They highlighted the significant applications of these technologies in energy and logistics, where they enhance innovation, boost competitiveness, and keep pace with global transformations in the digital economy.
