Gulf Center for Disease Prevention Underlines Commitment to Supporting Global Efforts to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance.

Jeddah: The Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control has emphasized the commitment of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states to supporting international efforts to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR). In line with global initiatives to curb AMR, the center stated that GCC countries are working to strengthen preventive policies and develop awareness programs aimed at promoting responsible antibiotic use, with an emphasis on coordination among relevant sectors.

According to Saudi Press Agency, during the 4th Global High-Level Ministerial Conference on AMR, held in Jeddah from November 15 to 16, the center highlighted the importance of the gathering in enhancing international cooperation to address the growing challenges posed by antimicrobial resistance, which remains a significant threat to global public health. The center underscored the importance of unifying efforts through the conference, which served as a platform for experts to discuss challenges and solutions related to AMR, one of the mo
st critical global health issues.

The event aimed to align global efforts with the “One Health” approach, develop effective and sustainable solutions, and enhance countries’ readiness to combat this phenomenon. These measures are intended to ensure global health security and translate commitments into tangible, actionable steps.
