ICAIRE Discusses Future of Writing in Age of Artificial Intelligence

Riyadh: The International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE), a UNESCO-affiliated center, discussed the future of writing in the age of artificial intelligence (AI) at a meeting it organized in cooperation with the Saudi Society for Opinion Writers, with the participation of writers, media professionals, and stakeholders in the cultural and technology fields.

According to Saudi Press Agency, during the meeting, ICAIRE's Dr. Abdulrahman Habib spoke about the major transformations the world is witnessing with the development of generative AI technologies and their impact on the future of writing and content creation, pointing to the broad opportunities they offer to expand the scope of human creativity, as well as the ethical and intellectual challenges they raise that require caution and awareness.

Dr. Habib stressed the importance of balancing human creativity with the role of technology in shaping ideas and texts, and of strengthening commitment to ethical principles to protect authors' rights and safeguard intellectual values, emphasizing that AI is an enabling tool for writers when it is used consciously and responsibly.

The meeting comes as part of the efforts of center to disseminate knowledge and promote global dialogue on the ethical and intellectual issues associated with the development of AI technologies, in partnership with cultural and media institutions in the Kingdom and around the world.
