IMCTC Secretary-General Hosts Mauritanian Ambassador to Discuss Counterterrorism Efforts

Riyadh: Secretary-General of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi received Mauritanian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mokhtar Ould Dahi at IMCTC headquarters in Riyadh today. The meeting underscored the collaborative relationship between Mauritania and the IMCTC, with a focus on shared efforts to combat terrorism and extremism.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the secretary-general expressed appreciation for Mauritania's active involvement in supporting counterterrorism initiatives and its effective participation in IMCTC programs. The ambassador's visit included a lecture where he outlined Mauritania's comprehensive counterterrorism strategy. This approach involves updating legal frameworks in alignment with international conventions, enhancing armed and security forces to secure borders and confront terrorist groups, promoting moderate religious discourse, and supporting scholarly and religious institutions to reinforce values of moderation.

The Mauritanian ambassador highlighted Mauritania's dedication to bolstering regional and international cooperation to address shared threats. At the conclusion of the meeting, he praised the IMCTC's role in combating terrorism and extremism and acknowledged the significant contributions of IMCTC programs in training and developing the capabilities of both civilian and military personnel to counter extremist groups.
