In the presence of Moayad Al-Lami, the meetings of the Standing Committee for Freedoms of the General Federation of Arab Journalists kicked off in Dubai

The meetings of the Standing Committee for Freedoms of the General Federation of Arab Journalists started in Dubai today, in the presence of the Head of the Union, Moayad Al-Lami, and Muhammad Al-Hammadi, Head of the Emirati Journalists Association, Assistant Head of the General Federation of Arab Journalists, and Abdel-Wahhab Al-Zaghilat, Chairman of the Freedoms Committee, with the participation of representatives of unions and organizations and associations from 18 Arab countries, and many fellow members of the Permanent Committee for Freedoms in the Union.

The Head of the Federation of Arab Journalists, Moayad Al-Lami, delivered a speech in which he praised the great effort made by the UAE Journalists Association for the success of this distinguished event, which is being hosted by Dubai for the first time.

Al-Lami said that support for press freedoms has many forms, moral and material. He praised the report on the status of press freedoms, which represents the reality of freedoms in the Arab world because of the important figures and details it contains and stresses the need to believe in the freedom of journalists in our Arab world.

For his part, Mohammed Al Hammadi, Head of the UAE Journalists Association, welcomed the Arab guests, praising the efforts made by the Arab Journalists Union to promote press freedom and its reality in general in the Arab region and its prominent role in organizing this historic event.

He expressed his happiness that this ceremony is the first event hosted by the Association since joining the Arab Journalists Union, stressing that this report was prepared with the utmost transparency.

In addition, Abdel-Wahhab Al-Zaghilat, Chairman of the Freedoms Committee of the General Federation of Arab Journalists, expressed his great happiness with his presence in Dubai and his meeting with fellow journalists from the Arab world to discuss the reality of press freedoms.

He stressed that it is necessary to pay attention to the issue of legislation and laws regulating press freedoms in the Arab world, and that trade unions should take clear positions regarding laws and legislation regulating press freedoms.

It is noteworthy that the report on the state of press freedoms in the Arab world 2022-2023 was based on comprehensive data and information and figures about the state of press freedom in the Arab world.
