Iraq and Malta stress the importance of giving priority to the language of dialogue and understanding in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis

The non-resident Ambassador of Iraq to the Republic of Malta, Siwan Barzani, met the Deputy Speaker of the Maltese Parliament, Angelo Farrugia, at the Parliament’s headquarters in the Capital, Valletta.

A statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: “The Ambassador affirmed the Iraqi government’s directions in building the best relations with all countries of the world, praising the level of distinguished bilateral relations that link Iraq with Malta.”

The two sides exchanged views on the most important common regional and international issues, stressing everyone’s endeavor to prevail over the language of dialogue and understanding regarding the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and the search for peaceful solutions to end the existing conflict.

For his part, the Deputy Speaker of the Maltese Parliament referred to the long-term distinguished bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, stressing the importance of exploring new areas of joint cooperation at the highest levels, to enable the two sides to develop trade, cultural and other relations.

He also affirmed Malta’s support for Iraq on the road to reconstruction, and its support for Iraq’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
