King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence Chairman attends Session of the Secretariat of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence participated in the 21st Session of the Secretariat of the Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, held in Kazakhstan.

The humanitarian approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa is based on promoting peaceful coexistence and human fraternity and consolidates the status of Bahrain as a hub for peace and dialogue, and a home for openness and tolerance, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla said.

In this regard, he highlighted the inauguration of the “Declaration of the Kingdom of Bahrain” as a global document for religious freedoms, and the kingdom’s hosting of many international conferences and events, among which was the Bahrain Dialogue Forum East and West for Human Coexistence; as examples of this approach.

The chairman praised the Bahraini-Kazakhstan ties and the two countries’ civility, care for dialogue and coexistence, and the pursuit of security and prosperity in the world.

Cognitive ignorance fuels extremism and violence, while tolerance promotes religious freedom and harmony, he said, adding that Bahrain embraces mosques, churches, temples, and worship in harmony, he added.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla emphasised that global issues are exacerbated by an ongoing trust crisis, leading to increased calls for intolerance, racism, and hatred, hindering effective solutions.

The Chairman said that religious preached tolerance, empathy, and equality, emphasising the responsibility of religious leaders to promote awareness and mutual respect.

King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence promotes moderation, understanding, and trust among cultures, adhering to international principles and moral values, he said.

He reiterated the call of HM the King to launch an international agreement to criminalize hate speech and prevent the misuse of freedoms and media platforms to disseminate religious hatred or incite extremism, urging joint efforts to build a safer, more peaceful, and prosperous world.
