Madinah Bus Service Facilitates Arrival of Worshippers to the Prophet’s Mosque during Ramadan

General

Madinah: Al Madinah Region Development Authority and the Traffic Department have been collaborating to make worshippers’ transport to the Prophet’s Mosque during Ramadan an easy and enjoyable experience.

The transportation service, which has been operational for six years, seamlessly coped with the high number of worshippers during Ramadan, especially on the 29th night of the holy month.

In spite of the fact that transportation toward the mosque was suspended after sunset yesterday, due to heavy pedestrian traffic, the efficient system facilitated the transportation of thousands of worshippers from various districts in Madinah to the mosque via designated bus stations and dedicated drop-off and pick-up points within the central area.

Air-conditioned buses performed over 15,000 trips on Madinah’s main roads during the first 20 days of Ramadan, transporting more than half a million worshippers. This signaled a significant improvement in transportation services, and contributed to a more organized arrival of
worshippers and a more streamlined movement around the Prophet’s Mosque.
