Military Technical Committee for Lebanon support continues

At the headquarters of the Franciscan Convent “Pro Terra Sancta” (PTS) in Beirut, the Military Technical Committee for Lebanon – (MTC4L) under Italian leadership continues with an activity of support to the local population and gives a clinical tool that allows to evaluate the cognitive skills of children and young people aged between 6 and 16 years as well as pediatric food supplements.

The aforementioned Convent, a historic building located in Gemmayze, an eastern district of Beirut, is a real emergency center that deals with various social and welfare activities, also because of several events that, in rapid sequence, have affected the Lebanese people: the financial meltdown and the consequent economic crisis, the emergency COVID, the terrible explosion at the port of Beirut on August 2020 and, in the last period, the deterioration of the security conditions.

In this complex and articulated context, the support of MTC4L and of the WISC (Weschler Intelligence Scale for Children), allowed the donation of o
ne of the most used tests in the world for measuring cognitive skills in the evolutionary age. A specific request from Dr. Fadi BEJANI and Dr. Stephanie GEAGEA, respectively operations manager and head of the dispensaries of “Pro Terra Sancta” Lebanon, who sustain the categories defined “vulnerable groups”. PTS medical staff also took part in the event.

The MTC4L, a multilateral humanitarian and capacity building initiative led by Major General Diodato ABAGNARA, operates in accordance with Resolutions 1701 (2006), 2650 (2022) and 2695 (2023) of the United Nations Mission (UNIFIL) and is currently made up of the following eight (8) partner nations: Italy, USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands.
