Mina: At the heart of the holy sites and among the notable achievements of this year's Hajj season, Mina Emergency Hospital 2 stood out as a leading model of advanced healthcare preparedness provided by the Ministry of Health.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the hospital was constructed, equipped, and made fully operational within a record time of just 30 days by a dedicated team led by the Ministry of Health in partnership with Kidana Development Company, the primary developer of the holy sites. Constructed on an area exceeding 5,300 square meters, the project represents a qualitative addition to the healthcare facilities in Mina. It was designed and operated according to the highest medical and engineering standards to complement the broader network of health services dedicated to pilgrims.
The hospital has a capacity of 200 beds, distributed across emergency, inpatient, and specialized units for treating heatstroke and heat exhaustion. It is also equipped with advanced facilities for radiology, laboratories, clinics, minor surgeries, isolation units, intensive care, and support areas for medical staff. Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Supply and Engineering Affairs Dr. Ibrahim Al-Trairi told the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the hospital's location was carefully chosen at the emergency landing site in Mina to ensure rapid access.
He indicated that the hospital is connected to two main entrances to facilitate medical transport: one via King Abdulaziz Road through a modern bridge and elevators, and the other through King Khalid Tunnel, ensuring smooth and timely emergency response without operational delays. The operation of Mina Emergency Hospital 2 is part of the Ministry of Health's efforts to expand medical coverage during Hajj and provide faster responses to emergency cases, offering a fully equipped treatment environment within the holy sites.
The project is among the fastest-built and operated hospitals worldwide and functions efficiently around the clock with over 550 healthcare professionals, including doctors, technicians, nurses, and administrators. This integrated emergency response team managed to receive and provide urgent care to numerous cases during the Hajj days within a record time.
