The resolution condemned killing and targeting civilians on both sides, stressing the importance of protecting civilians in line international law and humanitarian principles. It stressed the importance of releasing prisoners and detainees.

The resolution also emphasised the importance of achieving a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace that fulfills the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their right to have their independent, sovereign state on the borders of July 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital, and live in security alongside Israel; based on international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace initiative.
