Mecca: The Ministry of Health is taking proactive measures to ensure the well-being of pilgrims during Hajj, with a focus on diabetic individuals. Teams from the National Health System, known as "field foot teams," are using advanced thermal cameras to monitor the feet of diabetic pilgrims. This initiative is part of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, aligning with the "Health Sector Transformation" and "Serving the Guests of God" programs. The goal is to facilitate the performance of rituals and enhance the quality of health services provided during the Hajj season.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the preparations for this initiative began over eight months ago, through a collaboration between the Ministry of Health and the Saudi Academy for Health Volunteering. Initially launched as a pilot project in Riyadh and Medina, the use of thermal cameras has been implemented during the Hajj season to detect thermal signals on the feet via a mobile application. This allows for the early detection of potential complications, enabling medical teams to provide timely care and prevention services.
The deployment of medical teams across the holy sites underscores the Ministry of Health's dedication to ensuring the safety and health of pilgrims. Health practitioners, along with medical missions and volunteer teams, work within an integrated preventative system. This approach aims to minimize complications and improve the quality of care, ensuring a safe and smooth journey for all pilgrims.
