MWL Honors 6,000 Orphans Sponsored in Malawi

Makkah, The Muslim World League (MWL) has recently held a ceremony to honor 6,000 orphans sponsored by the League in Malawi. The event was attended by Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera and the Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Muslim Scholars Association, Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa.

Before the ceremony, President Chakwera received Sheikh Dr. Al-Issa at the Presidential Palace in the capital city of Lilongwe. Sheikh Dr. Al-Issa, leading a delegation from the MWL, is visiting Malawi as part of a tour of southern Africa to launch programs and initiatives and meet with various national leaders, particularly from the Islamic community, to promote national coexistence within Malawi’s diverse society.

During the event, President Chakwera awarded Sheikh Dr. Al-Issa the Republic Medal in appreciation of his dedication to caring for orphans. Sheikh Dr. Al-Issa, in turn, expressed his appreciation for the peaceful coexistence among Malawi’s religiously diverse population and emphasized
the League’s commitment to fostering cooperation and brotherhood among nations and peoples through charitable efforts.

President Chakwera commended the League’s projects and initiatives, expressing pride in Malawi’s strong friendship and partnership with the organization. He noted the MWL’s consistent and non-discriminatory assistance, especially its prompt response to Malawi’s calls for help during times of crisis.

The celebration for the League’s orphans included a documentary screening of the organization’s projects in Malawi, followed by the honoring of the orphans and the exchange of commemorative gifts. The event was covered by local and international media and attended by senior officials, ambassadors, and humanitarian workers.
