National Security seizes a large number of weapons and arrests a terrorist in Anbar and an arms dealer in Baghdad

The National Security Service announced the seizure of a large number of weapons and the arrest of a terrorist in Anbar and an arms dealer in Baghdad.

The Service stated in a statement that within the framework of preemptive strikes and in line with the security plan prepared to protect the Arbaeen visit from any security breach, the National Security Service detachments were able, based on intelligence information, to overthrow a terrorist in Anbar Governorate in cooperation with a force from the support team of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Commission.

It explained that the arrest took place after obtaining judicial approvals, following up on the accused’s movements, and completing sufficient evidence, as his headquarters was raided and (195) PKC rounds, (6) mortar shells, (30) RPG rockets, two containers of single-shot ammunition, (19) RPG shells, a military measuring device, a military scope, (50) single-shot ammunition rounds, and other various rounds were seized.

In the same context, the Service’s deta
chments in Baghdad were able to arrest one of the most important unlicensed arms dealers in his possession of a large number of weapons and ammunition, as (300) shock covers, a mortar shell, (16) launcher rockets, and a number of other weapons and firearms were seized.

The accused were referred with the seized items to the competent judicial authorities to take the necessary measures against them in accordance with the law.
