National Water Company Prepares for Hajj Season with Enhanced Infrastructure and Services

Makkah: The National Water Company (NWC) has announced the completion of its operational and technical plans to effectively manage water and wastewater services in Makkah and the holy sites during the Hajj season 1446 AH, marking a substantial increase in readiness to serve the pilgrims.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the company confirmed that preparations began well in advance, leveraging the experience gained from previous seasons to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency. In accordance with directives from the Kingdom's leadership, NWC is committed to providing seamless water and environmental services to ensure that pilgrims can perform their rituals with ease and safety.

The company's strategy includes ensuring an adequate water supply for distribution and pumping throughout Makkah and the sacred sites. This year, operational and strategic storage capacity has reached 3.5 million cubic meters, with an average daily pumping volume surpassing 760,000 cubic meters. On peak days, such as the Day of Arafah and Eid Al-Adha, pumping volumes are projected to exceed one million cubic meters.

NWC indicated that more than 2,000 trained employees will be involved in executing the plan, working across various sectors to ensure continuous support. Furthermore, the company has completed 18 capital and operational projects in Makkah and the holy sites at a total expenditure of SAR400 million. These projects are designed to enhance infrastructure, support water distribution, and boost network efficiency to deliver top-notch services for pilgrims.

To facilitate real-time oversight, the company has employed advanced technologies and established monitoring and control centers that oversee operations across the holy sites. Water pumping operations will be conducted around the clock in the Grand Mosque, the central area, and throughout Makkah's neighborhoods served by the city's water networks, following predetermined schedules.

The company also emphasized its continuous efforts to maintain water quality throughout the Hajj season, with over 4,000 laboratory tests conducted daily by specialized national teams.
