The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) has conducted a carbon footprint study at Al-Tamriat Station for Field Experiments and Pastoral Seeds Production. The study aims to measure the amount of greenhouse gas emissions contributing to climate change.

According to a press pelease, the study aims to document the findings as a foundation for future comparisons and achieve environmental sustainability in the coming years. It also seeks to identify the activities and processes with the most significant impact on emission levels and to establish a database that can be utilized in carbon offset programs. The experiment involved 11 plant species, examining the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by each during their first year of cultivation.

This carbon emissions report, said the release, is a preliminary step towards registering the project with one of the global platforms for carbon disclosure. It also forms part of the sustainability reports under Environmental,
Social, and Governance programs (ESG), in addition to using the (One Click LCA) and (OPENLCA) programs to determine the conversion factor for raw materials.

The NCVC continues its efforts to enhance vegetation cover and combat desertification, which directly contribute to increasing green areas and reducing carbon emissions, thereby lessening the impact of climate change.
