OIC Condemns Attacking a School Housing Displaced People in the Gaza Strip, Calls for Int’l Investigation

General

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned in the strongest terms the continuation of crimes of genocide being committed by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip, the most recent of which was the bombing of a UNRWA school housing thousands of displaced people in the Nuseirat camp, resulting in dozens of martyrs and injuries.

In a press release, OIC considered that these crimes constitute a flagrant violation of the provisions of international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, and resolutions issued by the International Court of Justice. The Jeddah-based organization also called for the necessity of investigating this crime and all war crimes committed by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip, including targeting UNRWA employees and facilities, displaced persons in its headquarters, and health and humanitarian workers, and holding perpetrators accountable and prosecuting them.

The OIC also called on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards putting an end t
o this brutal Israeli aggression that targets civilians, the displaced, hospitals, schools, buildings and places of worship, renewing the call for the necessity of delivering humanitarian and medical aid adequately and sustainably to all parts of the Gaza Strip.

The OIC also called on the relevant international justice institutions to expedite taking the necessary measures to ensure justice and hold those responsible for the violations and crimes committed by Israel accountable.
