Baghdad: The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, affirmed: ‘The fatwa of the supreme religious authority has a great impact in mobilizing the aspirations and uniting the people against the forces of backwardness and terrorism.’
Rashid said in a blog post on the X platform: ‘We remember the cowardly ISIS attack on our people in Mosul and a number of our dear cities, in their desperate attempt to destroy the entity of the state, threaten civil peace, and erase the history of Iraq.’
He added: ‘The response by the forces of the army, police, popular mobilization, and Peshmerga, and all our various types of security forces, is what preserves the dignity of the nation and the safety of citizens. The fatwa of the supreme religious authority in Najaf Al-Ashraf also had the greatest impact in mobilizing resolve and uniting the people against the forces of backwardness and terrorism that have long oppressed all Iraqis, especially our Yazidi people.’
